Prank or Crime? Teacher Allegedly Put Student In Trunk
Was it a prank? Or a crime?
A Putnam County Schools teacher is under investigation for allegedly putting a student in the trunk of his car at a Kanawha County shopping center, then driving at excessive speeds.
Jack Dailey, a business teacher and tennis coach at Poca High School, has some explaining to do.
Witnesses called South Charleston Police Friday night, August 19th, 2011, after they report seeing Dailey place a 16-year-old boy in the trunk of Dailey's car in front of the Kohl's at Dudley Farms Plaza off Corridor G. One of them gave chase and copied Dailey's license number.
When the cops arrived, the student in the trunk, and another at the scene, claimed it was only a prank. Now the police are checking to see if a crime was committed.
We doubt that Dailey will be teaching any logic classes anytime soon. And we doubt he will be teaching Drivers Education, either.
PutnamLIVE.com has emailed a request to Putnam County School Spokesperson Karen S. Nowviskie seeking the district's comment and photo of Dailey.
"As this is a personnel matter, we have no comment," says Nowviskie, in an email. "Also, I do not have a photo of Mr. Dailey." PutnamLIVE.com sent a reply asking for a copy of a yearbook photograph which was not immediately provided.
